Software FAQs
I'm having trouble getting the printer driver installed.
Check to make sure you have administrative rights
on your computer. Many computer users confuse Administrative Rights
with the ability to use the machine. In order to find out if you
actually have Administrative Rights, do the following:
Click Start>Settings>Control Panel. Double
click users and find out which group your log on name falls
in. If it doesn't say "Administrators", then you don't have the
ability to install a DuraLabel PRO 300 printer driver to your system and
will need to call your IT department to install it.
The printer finishes the label, feeds additional tape, then stops
with an error light.
Make sure that when you configure your driver
(Quick Start Guide pages 4-10) the sensor type is set to "continuous."
You'll find this in the "Advanced Settings" section.
The tape sticks to the cutter and peels back
as the label is printed.
Thoroughly clean the cutting mechanism with the
swabs provided. Sometimes adhesive residue can build up during cutting,
and that can cause the tape to stick as it passes through the cutter.
Proper cleaning will help prevent this. It may also be helpful to
carefully apply a small amount of silicone to the cutter, but care
must be taken not to get any on the print head. Additionally, the
3.2 mil vinyl is less susceptible to this problem than the 2.0 mil
vinyl.
When I print I get an error message
that begins:
Paper size of section 1 is different from printer page size.
Make sure that you've configured your driver,
set up a stock, and selected that stock before printing (Quick Start
Guide Pages 4-10). To make the change, be sure to close your document,
make the change in the print driver, then re-open the document to
print.
What do I do when the ribbon feeds out of the
front of the printer with the vinyl labels?
Lower the print density setting. When the print
density is too high the ribbon sticks to the labels and is pulled
out through the front of the printer. Lowering the print density
will keep the ribbon from sticking to the labels.
What do I do about small spots in the printing?
Small particles of dust and dirt on the surface
of the tape supply can prevent the ribbon from transferring properly,
leaving small spots in the printed area. Keep the ribbon and tape
supply as clean as possible and avoid printing in a dusty area.
It is also possible that tiny dimples in the surface of the tape
supply can prevent the ribbon from transferring. This is rare and
usually affects just a few feet out of any roll. Increasing the
print density can improve results.
How do I reverse the colors of the pictures
and text for the DuraLabel PRO 300 templates or labels I create?
Highlight the text and then change the font from
automatic to white. The second step for text is to go to the text
box and choose font. Change the background to black so the white
letters appear
I have 4" vinyl in my DuraLabel PRO 300 and when I print
a label, only the right 2" of the label gets printed. There is a jagged
edge as the print fades away.
Make sure that each side of the DuraLabel PRO 300 printer carriage
is firmly locked into place. This is due to the left side of the
printer carriage not being locked. Release the printer carriage
and then close it, firmly pushing on each side to ensure that it
is locked into place.
My DuraLabel PRO 300 makes one good print and then errors.
One or both of the two black plastic spindles
that holds the ribbon cores is backwards. The large end or flange
of each plastic spindle should be on the right side as you face
the machine from the front.
For die-cut labels, the driver settings should be as described in
the Help information included with the software:
Sensor Type: vertical
Gap / Black Mark: 0.12 inch
Options: select "cut every" and enter "1" in
the box.
Options: Offset: adjust with trial and error depending on which
size and type of die cut
label it is (a negative number moves cut to the right, positive
to the left)
All other settings should be zero.
If the settings in the driver are correct
try rebooting the computer.
