The HandiMark also displays a #3 in the lower right hand corner. ANSWER: Exposure to static electricity can also damage the smart chip. What has most likely happened is that the tape you are trying to use has a damaged smart chip. TheBrady HandiMark no longer detects this tape as being a valid Brady HandiMark tape.
Always be sure to turn the Brady HandiMark off before removing or installing a tape.
