Safety
instruction signs should be used where there is a need for
general instructions and suggestions concerning safety measures.
Safety signs are not used for safety or hazard warnings or
cautions. They are only used as informational signs for safety
related information. Typically safety signs present specific
information that applies to a buildings, work areas, process,
machine or equipment.
Design Requirements: The background color should
be white. The word SAFETY, in white letters on a green background
is printed in large letters across the top of the sign. The
text of the message should be printed in black on the lower
portion ofthe sign.

Safety Shower

Emergency Eyewash and Shower 1910.151(c) (Informational
Marking)
Suitable
facilities or quick drenching or flushing of theeyes
and body must be provided in the work area for emergency
use if worker's eyes or bodies are exposed to injurious
corrosive materials. Appendix A (non-mandatory appendix)
to 1910.1450, the National Research Council Recommendations
Concerning Chemical Hygiene in Laboratories, recommends
that location signs for safety showers, eyewash stations
and other safety and first aid equipment be posted.
